I read a LOT on the topic of clean eating and wellness everyday – and there are some great articles and reading materials out there to help educate on why our food source is challenged, and how we can begin to take charge as individuals, families, and people who want to do what we can to live long and energetic lives! Here I’ll share some of the ones I find particularly interesting.
Video: Trailer for Fed Up, May, 2014
“This is the movie the (US) food industry doesn’t want you to see. FED UP blows the lid off everything we thought we knew about food and weight loss, revealing a 30-year campaign by the food industry, aided by the U.S. government, to mislead and confuse the American public, resulting in one of the largest health epidemics in history. From Katie Couric, Laurie David (Oscar winning producer of AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH) and director Stephanie Soechtig, FED UP will change the way you eat forever.”
Book: Wheat Belly: Lose the Wheat, Lose the Weight, And Find Your Path Back to Health, by Dr. William Davis
This book started the gluten free revolution. I read it when I returned from Italy in May 2012 years ago and haven’t eaten a single wheat product in since. It’s absolutely eye-opening – even if you only read the first few chapters!
Video: Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead Extended Trailer, If you haven’t seen this documentary, every American should. It’s an eye-opening look at the difference between the typical American diet (filled with chemicals, hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, tranquilizers…) versus a real food diet predominantly filled with fruits and vegetables. Joe Cross goes cold turkey, and takes on fresh juice for 60 days – and his life is changed forever. (By the way, I am not recommended a 60-day juice cleanse – but this film is an eye-opener).
