I’ve tried a number of protein powders – especially some of the popular vegan ones such as Vega and Shakeology. By a long shot, I prefer Arbonne Vegan Protein to any of the others for taste, consistency, and for overall care toward wellness.
Depending on my mood, I use both Vanilla and Chocolate flavors. Vanilla is easier for adding fruits and veggies. Chocolate is – well – for when I have a chocolate craving!
As far as taste, Arbonne can’t be beat. It’s yummy. Some of the other protein powders taste like plastic or they taste too much like grass (green grass). Some protein powders remind me of when I was young at the dentist office and the dentist swore to me the toothpaste would taste like Chocolate Mint. Not! Arbonne tastes like Vanilla and Chocolate.
Arbonne also takes great care in making sure the ingredients used in their protein powder are held up to the highest in standards. Carrageenan was removed from the ingredient list, because while it does help to add creaminess to products, there are big clinical questions being asked about the safety of carrageenan, and the cancer risks.
Here are a couple of simple recipes using Arbonne Vegan Protein Powder:
Spicy Chocolate Smoothie
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (I recommend Whole Foods 365 brand because it is the one easy-to-find brand without carrageenan)
6 ice cubes (remember to filter that water before freezing)
2 scoops Arbonne Chocolate Protein
1/4 teaspoon organic cayenne pepper (bumps that metabolism)
1/4 organic Haas avocado (adds that creaminess – and does not add a strange taste; great for the skin)
Blend in good blender (I love my Ninja)
Berry Vanilla Smoothie
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
6 ice cubes
2 scoops Arbonne Vanilla Protein
1/4 teaspoon organic cayenne pepper
Handfull of organic strawberries, blueberries or raspberries
1/2 organic banana OR 1/4 organic Haas avocado (banana has more sugar; either can be used to add creaminess)
Of course, with the vanilla, you can pretty much add in whatever organic goodies you have on hand. The only word of caution – sometimes the color will end up a bit ugly if you put green and blue together! But it packs a punch as far as nutrition for a breakfast or lunch replacement!
